Stripping Wallpaper

I have always loved this wallpaper, but it has come to my attention that it is "grandma" wallpaper.  I am a grandma, so that is not an issue, but in an effort to update the house, I am stripping it all off.  Please remind me to NEVER wallpaper anything again.  It goes up much easier than it comes off.

  1. Oh, you have my sympathy. We bought a beautiful, huge 100 year old house in 1979 and found under the grey and pink paint not only layers and layers of wall paper, but wall cloth under that. After lots of steaming and stripping, we had walls that needed finishing before we could paint. In one area we found they had painted a 30' x 15' ceiling with outdoor paint that wouldn't hold any other paint before stripping. After that it took me several weeks and lots of rubber gloves to strip the layers of paint off of the two Rookwood fireplaces. I hope you don't have many walls to strip.

  2. Ugh! What a P in the A! Good luck!

  3. Stripping wallpaper is the pits. I say off with the paper, on with the paint. Long live latex!

  4. I hope the anticipation of your future plans make your work light.
